<p>The central role includes the following key responsibilities:</p>

<li>Assist project set up by agreeing drawing strategy, type and size of drawings and drawing numbering with senior engineer, and suggesting methods of drawing production to ensure efficient methods of working within the defined company standards.</li>
<li>Agree priorities and deadlines for drawing production with Senior Engineer and meet those deadlines.</li>
<li>Input to the co-ordination of engineering services on projects and deal effectively with co-ordination issues.</li>
<li>Develop general arrangement drawings from engineer’s sketches and other design team member drawings and details and develop sketches into co-ordinated drawings taking into account architectural, service and site requirements.</li>

<li>Develop detailed cross sections and be proficient in the detailing of concrete structures</li>
</ul>

<li>Complete design sketches for information in tender documents for small / routine work.</li>
<li>Produce work to specified AID CAD standards; suggest revisions to standards as appropriate.</li>
<li>Use templates for CAD work and use CAD library items to assist design work and update libraries as and when required.</li>
<li>Provide advice and coaching to trainee CAD technicians when requested.</li>
<li>Follow QA, document control and archiving guidelines on all work.</li>
<li>Work with project team members on specified aspects of the project.</li>

<p><strong>Person Requirements:</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Experience of working on multi-disciplined and differing sized projects, as the sole CAD operator and also as part of a wider CAD team.</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>Excellent working knowledge of AUTO CAD and able to use all standard functions on the software and coach junior staff in its use. 3D modeling experience advantage. Further use of 3D programs such as REVIT will be an advantage.</li>
<li>Good understanding of the role of consultant engineers and how to support this.</li>
<li>Clear understanding of industry standards.</li>
<li>Minimum level of Education should be a Diploma from a recognized Institution.</li>
<li>Developed and produced drawings for construction on concrete, steel and Infrastructure projects.</li>

<p>The central role includes the following key responsibilities:</p>
<ul>
<li>To act as Senior Engineer on those projects assigned by the Director Engineering to supervise and carry out design work on such projects and to ensure compliance with Company Health, Safety and Environment Policies, Standards and Procedures.</li>
<li>To be responsible for the supervision of Engineers or other staff assigned to him by the Director Engineering. </li>
<li>To be responsible for producing and checking design work in accordance with Company Procedures. Approval of design work when authority has been delegated by the Director Engineering.</li>
<li>To carry out design tasks on proposals delegated to him by the Director Engineering.</li>
<li>To assist the Director Engineering as instructed in administration work within the company including but not limited to preparation of Corporate Procedures, Corporate Standards, Specifications and the Technical side of Bids and proposals. </li>
<li>To assist in the planning for adequate resources and in monitoring and reporting design progress and man-hour usage.</li>
<li>To liaise with other Engineering and Support disciplines, as required. </li>
<li>To provide support to Marketing, Construction and Business Development Departments.</li>
<li>To cascade information to individuals on organizational performance, policy and procedures and to report back to senior management relevant subordinate comments and recommendations for improvements in performance and removal of constraints that are preventing performance.</li>
<li>To offer advice and support to colleagues and subordinates on development needs taking into account work activities, learning ability and circumstances.</li>
<li>To be aware of legal and organizational responsibilities regarding Health, Safety and Environmental issues with respect to Employees, Contractors, Clients and third parties, ensuring that activities are managed in accordance with Company Policy and Client requirements.</li>

<ul>
<li>This role is to work as part of a team to support the delivery of projects. This role will be working under the supervision of a senior or Director Engineering to carry out the following functions:</li>
<li>Follow in full the document control and QA processes relevant to project work, ensuring drawings, specifications, reports and correspondence are issued, and filed / archived in an appropriate manner</li>
<li>Organize and carry out detailed design to AID and International standards ensuring QA and technical review and sign off by project leader, including complex calculations and co-ordination issues.</li>
<li>Organize and undertake technical calculations to industry standards in conjunction with team members; supervise the work of team members to ensure the delegated work is completed to deadlines / standard and report to the project leader any issues, risks or client changes</li>
<li>Prepare elemental work for project budget costing as delegated by the senior team member, within agreed deadlines and standards</li>
<li>Deal with the day to day queries from the site, ensuring that relevant information is available on time for construction activity</li>
<li>Contribute to and question technical and construction issues and encourage and help the trainees to better understand the design process</li>
<li>Determine appropriate software for Computer Aided Design,  models and undertake analysis and manual checks</li>
<li>Raise the level of technical competence within the teams.</li>
<li>Contribute to the delivery and quality measurement processes.</li>
<li>Contribute to the technical excellence in all our projects</li>
<li>Develop positive professional relationship both with in AID, communicating openly about project progress</li>
<li>Participate in team meetings, disseminate information within the team, and communicate with other teams in AID and also external clients.</li>
<li>Demonstrate an awareness of project risk issues, flagging potential problems to team leader</li>
<li>Flag resource concerns to team leader and assist colleagues to ensure team timelines are met</li>
<li>Complete timesheet accurately ahead of weekly deadlines</li>

<p><strong>Person Requirements:</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>The applicant will have experience in the design of Building Structures with experience in a similar role or demonstration of a good track record.</li>
<li>The applicant should ideally possess a degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.</li>
<li>Applicants need to be able to demonstrate good communication and technical skills and be capable of working both within the team and independently, as dictated by work load.</li>
<li>Must be conversant with technical structural software, such as RAM, SAP, CSC, ETABS, STAAD and be proficient in checking complex models through excel and hand calculations.</li>
<li>A sound understanding of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Project is essential</li>
<li>Must be fluent in English with an excellent understanding of technical terminology.                                             </li>
<li>Sound experience in the use of International codes such as BS, ACI, ASHTO and UBC, PBC.</li>
