Mr. Shahid Saleem has a Bachelor’s in Civil Engineering from UET Peshawar and a Master’s in Civil Engineering, with specialization in Structural Engineering, from Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta, Georgia, USA. He has over 40+ years of professional experience in diverse areas including Structural Design, Teaching & Research, and Management & Monitoring of large Infrastructure Projects in Oil & Gas and Petrochemical industry.
Mr. Shahid had been a part of Associates in Development since its inception in 1995 till 2000 as one of the founding partners of the Company. Having rejoined the Company in 2022, he is currently steering the Engineering portfolio of the Company as Director Engineering.
During the course of his professional career spanning over 40 years, Mr. Shahid has had the opportunity to work in diverse areas such as Engineering Design, Teaching & Research, Engineering Management, and Development Consulting.
Mr. Shahid remained associated with the largest Pakistani multinational EPC Company, DESCON, for over 20 years working at various tiers at the DESCON’s engineering arm, JGC-DESCON, a JV of DESCON and one of the world’s largest Japanese-owned EPC Company, Japan Gas Corporation (JGC). While at DESCON, he has had the opportunity to be part of the large “Engineering Design and Management” teams working on some of the big Oil & Gas and Petrochemical projects located in various regions of the world including Middle-East/Gulf, Central Asia, and Africa. Mr. Shahid managed, for over 13 years (from 2008 to 2021), the JGC-DECON’s Engineering office at Karachi, leading a multi-disciplinary team of around 100+ engineers and designers/draftsmen from various engineering specialties’ including Process, Piping, Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, and Instrumentation & Controls. As head of the office in Karachi, besides delivering the projects successfully within the budgeted cost and scheduled time, he was also responsible for Financial Management, Client Management, and Business Development in Karachi and the southern region of Pakistan. Mr. Shahid successfully managed project portfolio worth between PKR 200 - 250 million annually while ensuring that the operations remained consistently profitable.
During the course of his professional career, Mr. Shahid also remained associated with teaching & research for over 10 years as Assistant Professor at University of Engineering & Technology. He taught courses in Mechanics of Deformable Solids, Structural Analysis, Reinforced Concrete Design, and Concrete Technology.
